Free Autocad Blocks
Those of us who work drawing in AutoCAD are not here to waste time, and honestly, in front of the computer it flies by! We have decided to compile the best portals, links and where to find free AutoCAD blocks to download them in 2D and 3D, easily in DWG format.

The drawing software itself on its official website from HERE recommends five places to download free 2D and 3D blocks. The block libraries are:
- From the CADforum portal – A huge forum with specialized sections on CAD blocks – BIM Blocks.
- From the CAD Blocks.Net portal – A great no registration required website to download over 5,000 CAD block files – dwg file extension – for AutoCAD and other programs for use in architectural projects or drawings.
- From the Fastrack CADportal – Gather drawings to download materials, objects and parts from major manufacturers for construction and building sites.
- From the CADdetails portal – Another web site specialized in drawings, but of high quality.
They are in English, but you can find any DWG to download; houses, furniture, bathrooms, electrical and plumbing symbology, trees, etc.
2.- Download Autocad blocks on Youtube
Youtube has everything from CAD explanations and tips, to download links to huge 2D and 3D libraries.
Just put in the search engine “DOWNLOAD AUTOCAD BLOCKS” that you can see from HERE on Youtube and you will see that many results in the video description is the URL to download the drawings.
3.- Remember the libraries of Autocad itself

5.- How to search for AutoCAD blocks on Google
Before we start to see the reference portals where we can download libraries of interest first we would like to show you how to search for almost any free AutoCAD library using Google advanced searches (Remember that from the article how to search for free architecture books we already went into the advanced searches).
First of all we must go to this link and configure it as the following image (This would be the generic mode)
As you can see in the results of Google it throws us about 2.170 Drawings to download free in DWG only with the related word “house”, which normally will be plans of houses by their relation. It is necessary to remember that:
- Where it indicates “all these words“: normally we would have to put “autocad”, but beware, for example we could also use BIM.
- Where it indicates “This exact word or phrase”: We must always put the subject in quotation marks and remember that it varies depending on whether it is plural or singular. Subjects like; House, dining room, bathrooms – bathroom, bedrooms – bedroom, trees, tables, furniture… etc. Or even “construction details”.
- Where it indicates “file type”: Always designate Autodesk DWG (.dwf).
6.- The construction companies give us Autocad drawings as gifts
Another of the qualities that Internet offers us today is that most of the big companies and companies of the architecture sector that provide materials for facades, roofs, foundations, slabs…etc. They have their own free AutoCAD blocks for technicians to use in their projects.
If you have been working in construction for a long time or you are a technician, you will surely know the big companies that supply materials, for example, if we go to the website of Placo of the Saint Gobain Group. 8.- Free Autocad drawings for urban planning, public spaces and streets.
AutoCAD libraries on urbanism are rather scarce, and for free AutoCAD blocks, even more so. At Bibliocad, which according to them “We are the world’s largest download and sharing library of CAD and BIM resources for Architecture, Design, Engineering and Construction.”

Online DWG viewer
When we work on CAD files, sometimes we need a free online DWG viewer because we are somewhere out of the office or in front of a computer that we cannot view the drawings.
Internet tools and applications to view DWG files online there are many, but the reality is that few provide us with quality, speed and ease of use with the ability to share the work with colleagues and of course, without having 1000 advertising elements surrounding us.
